Getting ready to purchase one of the following SW revolvers - 629 5 inch, 629 6 inch, 629 6.5 inch Deluxe. Usage will primarily be range shooting, I already have a PC 44 mag Light Hunter with 7.5 inch barrel for deer hunting. It seems like every time I utube one of these I want that one then change my mind again. Currently I'm leaning toward the 5 inch as I've ready many articles where folks like the balance of that model. Thoughts and opinions appreciated.

I couldn't be a happy man without a 4" 629 44

I quite liked the feel of the 5" I had, traded it when I got out of .44s for a few years but it was an excellently balanced gun, and the sizing made IMHO for a good mitigation of recoil, especially shooting the heavier stuff with Hogues.

Because you already have a longer barreled gun I would go with the 5" 629. It's that middle of the road option where you get a nice jack of all trades type gun.

I say this as someone who owns a 7.5" Ruger Super Redhawk. A great hunting gun and for fun on the range, but not really suitable for much else.

I agree with the longer tube for range and possible hunting use, especially if strictly handgun hunting. But if for carry purposes as a secondary or backup to a long gun, definitely 5", if no 4" available.
