Just realized I posted this in the wrong section but cant figure out how to move it...ugh

Was looking around at my local gunshop a few days ago waiting for the FDLE to approve a recent purchase when I spied this nice clean Model 15-3 hiding in the back of the revolver case, action was super nice n tight, pretty high condition , slight muzzle rub and a not crazy high asking price of $459, what the heck Model 15's are my kryptonite, turns out it's from mid 1975 and had the rather elusive (seems like 1 to 2 years) gas ring on the yoke ( my first one).
So ff to tonight I sat down and noticed the original Jaws was on TV so ok Im in theres some cool gun scenes, then it hit me that I saw Jaws in the theater in the summer of 75 ( between 5th and 6th grade at 11 years old) remembering it was while we were vacationing on the NJ shore and it kinda scared me a little swimming in the ocean surf which I normally loved.
So decided to look up the release date online which by chance was exactly 50 years ago today,
June 20th 1975, ( btw today is also the official first day of summer aka the "Summer Solstice")
Anyway, figured it's kind of an omen that the new 15-3 was probably sold about the same time the movie released so a good reason to show it off.
Maybe later will snap a pic of it with my Garand too.
As an interesting aside when I first got hired in 1989 our dept was still using the same Motorola Mt500 being used by Amity PD in 75.
Happy Anniversary Jaws !

Saw it at the drive-in when it came out

It was the summer before I started elementary school.

Double features at our drive-in were always a family type movie first. Jaws was obviously second (although I'm pretty sure it was PG). I guess my parents assumed my sister and I would be asleep by the second feature.

I watched every minute of it. I switched from baths to showers. Can't be too careful.

This being a gun forum, adding in Chief Brody with an M1 Garand.

Few movies get the dialogue and atmosphere so calibrated to build interesting characters. I still consider Roy Scheiders’ performance to be excellent. He seemed to basically reprise his NYPD detective from the French Connection, but it worked perfectly in this film.

Was on a New England vacation with my wife and daughter. We were staying at a motel in New Hampshire near the beach. Late in the evening we all decided to walk down to the water, and my daughter wanted to go in the water. By this time, it was dark, but she didn't care and started walking out into the ocean. I followed her and she kept walking further and further into the ocean. By this time I was in panic mode and asked her to start walking back to the beach. She just kept walking out further and all I could think of was a shark was swimming nearby. I finally grabbed her and we walked back to the beach. My heart didn't stop pounding until we were on the beach. Scared the bejesus out of me. Of course, Jaws was running through my mind all of the time too.

Smile, you SOB!!

I am a bit older than the OP and I may be one of seven people in the country that never saw that movie. I will say, that the 15-3 is a fine handgun, and at that price, is a great bargain compared to the cost of a new revolver today.

If your member Pic is of you in your navy uniform Id say you are just a little more older than I am.

My people hail from the Tampa area and fought in the CSA Florida 7th infantry co. B, D and E.

We've had a place on the Cape since forever - East Sandwich. Took a bit for us to get used to going back into the water. Being on the bat side of the Cape where the water was colder we sort of convinced ourselves that sharks don't like it cold.

Kept the tourist types away for a long time. Which was quite OK.

National Geographic channel is having a special about the making of “Jaws” on July 10. Should be worth watching by many here. Look it up.

Debilitating and deadly shark attacks are very rare. They just produce disproportionate levels of news reports when they do happen.

I was 19 when it opened. My second year of college, we where standing in line of maybe 50 people. About 40 people ahead of us was our drafting teacher who was also skipping our class. He turned, saw us, smiled and waved. Our college (MCC) was just about a mile town the road from the theater. That night I made sure nothing hung over the edge of the bed. At 69 years old I still do that today. I don't like sharks touching me, I'm funny that way.

I am older than that. I went to the same school as Moses, but he was two grades ahead of me. The kid in the photo is a family member that was killed at Malvern Hill. He would have been my GGF's first cousin.
