Are We At War Now?

Because Iran's cyber capabilities are pretty advanced, and the U.S.'s power grid is catastrophically outdated and vulnerable.
A succesful cyberattack against U.S. infrastructure has the potential to result in far more death than any nuclear attack Iran could be capable of.
North Korea is guilty of exactly the same threats, and actually has detonated nuclear weapons. When are we going to start dropping bombs on them?

Not to mention Iran's allies include Russia and China, both countries that we have been deferential to for various reasons until recently.

Something major just happened behind the scenes. My guess is that Israel has uncovered some major intelligence during their searches and interrogations related to Gaza, prompting immediate action. Now, whether that evidence was fabricated or overblown remains to be seen.
The cyber threats existed before yesterday's attack and will exist going forward. We need better defenses against them, remembering that the best defense is a good offense, and immediately is not too soon to develop them. Probably the best assist we could have in that respect, in terms of increasing the urgency and effectiveness of our efforts, would be an effort by Iran or NK or others to attack our grid.

“ Kill em all and let God sort them out”…..

I think you just hit the Nail on the head, the core of the thinking of many in our Country today. For sure we are seeing that belief in Gaza and I have no doubt many would like to see the entire Middle East turned into a Gaza. Children are fair game and of no consequence.
And again, very little or no concern about our Troops at all in Syria, Iraq etc. Support for our Military seems to come on Veterans day and Memorial day the rest of the days just forgotten.
Billions and Billions sent to Israel, 20 billion last year alone. Very little in comparison sent to VA hospitals.

Attorney Alan Dershowitz (sp?) has a book about situations like this and what resulted from inaction by the rest of the world. Not only a fine legal mind, but not a raving political figure. Like a lot of critical thinkers, not in favor with those whose positions he doesn't support.
Lol, Dershowitz and guy's like Mark Levine talk a big game but are the last two that would ever put boots on and go and fight.

I remember the very start of the Ukraine War. My first post was that this is going to be a gigantic quagmire resulting in the death of millions, especially Ukrainians.

This Iran/Israel war is going to make that war and Iraq looks like childs play. This time it will be Americans by the millions as well. This is just the infant stage we are in. Hell is coming. Be patient.

We have no right wage war on Iran.
They have been waging war on us for decades. It's only right we return the favor. With equal or greater force. If we don't, it will never stop.

It's just like being armed to defend ourselves. We don't choose the conflict; the conflict comes to us. We have to respond accordingly when such things happen. We have to make the criminals, if they survive, fear making the same choices again.

It's the old "spare the rod, spoil the child" philosophy. In more recent times it has been referred to the broken windows policing policy. Make a big deal out of small things, and you will prevent a lot of bigger problems later. We have failed doing that in many respects in the US going back decades now. It's cost a lot of good people dearly.

I hope you are wrong.

Once war starts, it is very hard to end - recall that WW I started with a minor assassination of a minor official in a backwater (Sarajevo, to the far right of this photo).

By the way, the Russians say 'other' countries will give Iran nukes:

June 22 (UPI) -- In the wake of President Donald Trump's strike on Iran's nuclear sites Saturday, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said Sunday that "a number of countries" are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear weapons.

Here are some blindspots to pay attention to.
Turkey biting at the bit to go against Israel for starters.
Folks need to start doing their homeowork.

Russia: Other Nations Ready to Supply Iran with Nukes After U.S. Strike

Saw the Iranian parliament just voted to close the Straits of Hormuz, even though that is not an action that is legally within the parliament’s power. Still, Iran could start sowing mines at any time. 20% of the world’s oil goes through the Straits. You might want to fill your gas tanks and buy Exxon stock.

I have a full tank of gas. And hope theUS of G finishes what they started. As fore Exon stock I have enough but will suggest RTX. com stock. It's done well for me.
I have been buying defense-related ETFs over the last year in expectation of something like this, XAR and PPA. May buy more tomorrow.

We have no right wage war on Iran. The mid East would be safer if Iran has a bomb, like Israel does. The Indo- Pakistani conflict did not escalate because both have the bomb. MAD (Mutual Assured Destruction)
Under other circumstances I would agree with you.
Unfortunately when one side has already stated in the past they have every intention of using nukes first opprotunity against you or their neighbors while screaming death to America and to quote the one Iranian woman show on TV the other day saying "Death tastes as sweet as honey" while proclaiming they want to be martyrs, then the point is to eliminate the threat. MAD as we had with the Russians isn't going to work.
IMHO the only reason North Korea hasn't used them is because they can't get them or their delivery systems to work right. Give it time and we'll probably have to do the same with them.
The mullahs and ayatollahs in Iran know they are doomed and that it is just a matter of time. But like with so many dictatorial regimes throughout history, they aren't going to make their final trip into eternity alone.

$20 billion sounds like a lot, but did you know the VA budget for this year is $369 billion and they're asking for an increase to $441 billion for FY2026? I don't think the VA is short of much of anything and has a staff of almost 500,000 people treating nine million enrolled vets. That's one VA employee for every 18 patients, a much higher ratio of care persons to population than that for the general population. We should also note that many military retirees have little or nothing to do with the VA, although do get care paid for by the Government through TriCare and possibly other programs.

Over 4000 Iowa National Guard members are currently going thru advanced training at Fort Polk, LA. Reports are that 1800 of them will be sent directly to bases in the Middle East. How many of these young family men will be returned in body bags? Too many.
I'm quite sure our IA governor was behind this.
