…is sitting at a local shop. It’s in stainless steel and physically in very nice condition. It comes with the box, but cardboard doesn’t really mean much to me. I have been having some pretty good luck with Ruger’s Six series revolvers purchases lately so I just wanted to see if $500 would be a fair price to you all. Sorry, I’ve got no pictures, but black rubber stocks and it looks like a Ruger. Personally, like I said, I haven’t got a bad one yet (Ruger), but this one feels like it needs its innards cleaned up. I’ve been looking, non-chalantly, and it seems the used Rugers’ prices seem to be creeping up. For 5 bills I think it may be worth a shot. I have the cash but I really think it may be worth my time to loosen it up, etc., and if I can get it all right I may have some trade bait. But if you know what is in my mind, it may be a keeper. Anyone have any thoughts please chime in. Peace!

Well, the box, if ok, may help me on decision-making. I know the S&W boxes bring a couple extra bucks, but I s’pose many brands’ boxes add a few bucks. I wasn’t able to get the serial number. Some of the 150-****** numbers are a little tough to get certain parts for, as they changed something in the frame. Anyway, talk me out of it! I believe if it’s there tomorrow it’ll come home.

Creek side, I think I’m gonna grab it if it’s still there tomorrow. I failed to mention the S&W 14-3 sitting above it on the shelf above it. Seems like a nice revolver also. If I can get a deal I may put my name on both. I think it was listed with a $7-800 price tag, seems fair. Gun was okay-looking, etc., so I may be doing some goesintas and maybe even some fractions just to mess me up. Any help spending my money is much appreciated! Gees, $500 for the Ruger. I know nothing about the model 14-3. It’s clean, etc.
Peace my brothers!

Buy it ! Bought my 6" Stainless Security Six in 1976, Pachmayr grips, a Bullseye/Trapper spring set to lighten the trigger pull, one of my best shooters.

"Bullseye/Trapper spring set"....is that similar to a Wolf spring kit? I bought a couple kits and got my GP100 in .327 FM (I had 2 GP100s at the time) running as smooth as my 629-6, which is my most accurate handgun, not counting the K22 Masterpiece.
The Ruger is tagged at $530, the 14-3 at $700. My math puts the two together at $1100; not too unreasonable? I did mention the Ruger seems like a good cleaning might loosen it up some...I hope, IF I decide to purchase it. It's been about a month since my last revolver purchase.

Not a bad price on a Security Six these days, especially stainless steel, pre-warning, and the box. Like most other things these days, I doubt it will get any cheaper! I would go for it. Good luck.

I love Rugers and have a speed six many years ago. I sold it to a friend and it was stolen from his car. I never should have sold it. Great guns.

LGS had one,, 6" stainless, 4 months back, I checked it out, nice and tight, decent trigger, factory grips. Overall clean, later serial number.

Revolvers generally don't sell quickly there but that one did, for $600.

The security sixes are very easy to take apart and clean. I love mine and I put a spring kit in it and that helped the trigger quite a bit. It was very easy to do. I also found some Herret shooting star grips really cheap on the Internet And it now looks great and feels great.

My first revolver was/is a 6" SS Security Six, (161-) $267 in 1986. Over the years I've picked up a SS in 4" and 2 3/4. As well as a blue 4" and a 2 3/4 Speed Six and 2 3/4 Service Six, both in .38 Spl. Love my Rugers.

Well, yesterday I put $200 on it. The cylinder was very tight. The store owner loosened it up with some ATF so I said to him put my name on it; I'll be back Tuesday to pick it up. The action actually did loosen up okay. Ruger did a nice job the way these revolvers were designed for (usually) easy disassembly. This has a 151- serial number. The stocks are in good shape so I won't need to worry about trying to find stocks, as the first year or so, they changed the grip frame. We'll see how it works Thursday when my grandson & I will be over at the rifle range.
