Sams Club vs Costco?

No annual fee, no interest (Paid off every month), and cash back. Sam's pays me to use its card. What's not to like?

Already have the same deal on other cards... don't need another one just to avoid using an app.

Costco has Top Tier gas, Sams not, so that makes the switch easy.

That's good to know. The nearest Costco to me is 35 miles away but it's in a town I frequent on other business. I try to use only Top Tier gas in my cars.

There is no Costco in our area. I've never been in one. There are several Sam's Clubs in the area so we go there and mostly shop in bulk for long term supplies. We stay stocked for storms and we have more than our share. I think Louis Grizzard once described shopping at Sam's as "shopping by forklift".

I have been a Sam's member about 35 years. I have lived is 4 different cities in 3 states in those years. Then I moved to VA, the Sam's was 25 miles away and there was a Costco next to my office, so I shopped there. Then in Houston, Sam's was closest, so I shopped there.

Now I live in San Antonio and settled on Costco. I make the most out of the Executive membership and their VISA rewards card. I get a voucher/check from the Executive membership every year and it pays me the cost of the Executive membership. That is in addition to the rewards card check.

I still have a Sam's card and go there sometimes. But we have come to prefer COSTCO by a lot.

I have 8 Costco's within 20 miles of me. There isn't a Sam's within 100 miles of me. That alone tips the scales to Costco for me.

I've gotten tires and AGM batteries from Costco and they don't try to upsell. They had fast excellent service in the tire dept.

I've been to sam's with friends, but I wasn't impressed.

Nearest Sam's is close to home. Probably around a mile and a half, so it's convenient. Members for many years, but we don't go often. No Costco, but supposedly the largest one in Texas is under construction. It's about 17 miles from home, but it's also on my way home from work, so I may check it out when it opens (soon from the looks of things.) Near that Costco on the opposite side of the freeway is another Sams.

There is no Sam's Club conveniently located to where we live and I have never been in one. We have been Costco members since they opened - a very long time! I only wish I bought their stock back then!! lol.

We love Costco and wind up there once a week. While they have great prices and excellent quality there ARE a few items we do buy at Publix. We do not care for their chicken and they do not carry certain brands and food items we like, so we usually hit Publix at least twice a week. We entertain constantly and are always filling in on something or other.

Walmart is not a favorite place for us to shop - being kind! I only go into Walmart twice a year to pick up distilled water for my cigar humidor, floor steamer and the Mrs. steam iron. I usually buy 12 gallons at a time so I don't have to back for 6 months.

Best part is”plus” was on a special deal so upgraded, ordered the box online with free delivery (only with “plus” benefit), and thus saved myself a few hours drive and a few gallons
of gas.

Bottom line: I Sam’s Club.

I was going to add about Sam Clubs "Plus" free shipping as something we use a lot, makes it well worth us having it

My wife does have Costco, but due to their "stance" on the Second Amendment, and CCW's in their stores, I frankly wouldn't care if they closed, permanently, this afternoon

BJ's, OTOH, I also continue to use, as I first became a member in 1988, when I moved to DE, and they were about a mile away

So, for me, I'll pay for Sam's Club and BJ's memberships, but Costco can Rot In Hell for all I care

Costco here, try the gas pumps right after they open, here that is 7 AM. During Covid I filled up 3 gas cans and the car and managed to drive 48 days without a refill.

No kids at home, its just the wife and I now so no need to buy in bulk. I hated buying anything from those places because I usually had just a few items and I would be in lines behind people with overflowing shopping carts. I've had memberships to both places and still have a Sams Membership and have used it maybe twice in 5 years. We order most every non perishable grocery item from Amazon, it's so fast and easy and we buy milk, bread, meats, cheese, vegetables, etc. from a tiny ice cream/grocery store near us called Braums and they have great quality. Saving a couple bucks to put up with long lines and a big hassle is not worth it to me.

We were members of Sam's Club and dropped it when BJ's opened. I thought BJ's had nicer stuff and it was a lot closer.

When Costco opened 3 miles from my house we joined and never looked back. The only positive about BJ's is that since Costco opened you never have to wait in line there because they have very little business. They both have gas and its always the same price so we get gas at whichever is closest when we need it.

Costco is 1 mile from by house. A newer store with wide parking spaces and new gas station.
Executive membership and their VISA rewards card pay my membership.

I’ve been a member of Costco for 30 years.

Costco has much better choices for quality products and the Kirkland brand is very high quality with typically lower prices than name-brand equivalents. Kirkland Columbian Coffee is the best for price.

Costco customer service is outstanding. Last year my Costco Rebate on my Costco Executive Membership card was $393.

I had a Sam’s Club membership years ago but preferred shopping at Costco.

I don’t buy at Walmart unless I absolutely have no other choice.
