If You Could Only Own One Smith & Wesson… What Would It Be?

This tuned 19-4 I got off GB for a song. It was wearing Goodyears when I got it so I contacted the Culinas and they had this set of RB to SB conversions available. Someone had it converted to RB, smoothed the action, removed the serrations on the trigger, and changed to a target hammer. Probably to get more mass for the tuned trigger. It is a sweet shooter.

I have a similar story John. l found a similar 19-4 on GunBroken. All the Ts and inserts available. Also had the guy's name in GOLD. Seller offered it for a song, saying someone had used a lettering pen on it. l knew better because it was too neat. l know the factory lettering process for gold. The gun actually has to be blued TWICE. From the action feel, l am sure it's been factory tuned. Written in Gold, ''TD HALL'', l wonder who you are?

If you could choose just one Smith & Wesson firearm to own—whether for personal defense, fun at the range, or collecting—what would it be and why?

Would you pick a classic like the Model 29, a reliable Shield Plus, or something unique?

I’d love to hear what the community values most, as this could influence an upcoming giveaway contest! 👀

What's your must-have Smith & Wesson?
I waited for the right gun to be my carry for a while. Spent a lot of time. Eventually code a S&W Performance 1911 .45.
Took it to the range and put one full 8 round clip down range. I fired rapid and laid all in a 5 inch circle. I was shocked and impressed.
Only fired one clip. Grew up with .45’s but learned that as we all age it’s the racking of an auto that you enjoy less.
Revolvers are old school and can be fined tuned with more assessors even when you wear an older man’s clothes.

I posted earlier that I'd want to keep my 3" 66.

Changed my mind. If I could only have one S&W, I'd want a M76. The prices are about the best I've seen for a transferable select fire sub machine gun.

Pretty sure there are a few on here that owns one.

...I'm late to this party but I think I'd have a really tough time parting with my Smith and Wesson model 945. They don't seem common and it shoots better than any of my 1911's (and I have a few). I carried it for a while but had the epiphany that if I ever had to use it in a self-defense event, I'd probably never see it again so no longer use it as a carry gun.

Mode 67 with both hogue a two sets, of original wood , standard and target. Small enough for concealed and potent enough with plus P .

I have been cutting back as I age, so I don't have as many as I once did. I'd have a hard time choosing between the following 2. One might think obvious choice would be the 6" Model 952, but I have a lot of history with the 586.

952 is beautiful . I have a 745 , the most accurate 45 I’ve owned .

Tough question. I have to ask myself what S&W I would never get rid of. One I'll never part with is my model 617, 6", .22 LR 6 shot revolver I bought new in 1991. Poor little 34-1 since then just takes up space in the back of the safe. @BANG on the GONG all day.jpg

I would say that my model 28 is my favorite. It fits my hands better than any of my K frames. I do have a fondness for the model 14-3.

My Model 66-0 4" Bout all the revolver I need.
I was a reserve police officer back in the 80's and went through a number of S&W's looking for the right one. I tried the mod 19, 36, 65, 66 and 67. If I had to choose only one it would be the 66, even though I let another officer talk me out of it when I left the force. I still have my 67 locked safely in my gun safe. The model 36 was my backup and served me well. Only needed to draw it once in 12 years but if I had to have used it I had total confidence in it doing what I needed it to do. All were 4 inch models except for the 36 which was the 2 inch chief.
