Foyle's War — Anybody Watch It?

My wife gave me the DVDs, one of my favorite series. We used to watch it once a year, then watch her favorite, Downton Abbey.

BBC now offers their BritBox streaming channel in the US. All programming is British shows and movies. $89.95/year. They have been advertising it recently. Not likely I will subscribe, but for those Anglophiles hooked on British entertainment, it could be attractive.

Interesting. Thanks. I wonder if it has more channels than the BritBox or Acorn channels available on Prime.

(Just checked this out. Same channel. BritBox, above, is offered on Amazon Prime as a channel, and on other platforms, too. I have subscribed, watched what I wanted, amd unsubscribed a couole of times. Good stuff. Ditto Acorn.)

I like the three Inspector Morse series a lot.

I like watching foreign shows. There was/is a French cop show, Salamander, that was very good. Spiral was another. And I generally like the a Nordic noir stuff.

Been rewatching some of the Robert Ulrich series, too, on Amazon. (His Spenser character has aged better than the Hawk character, I think. But its all good fun.)

Also, there are two short miniseries that are top-notch--The Escape Artist, and The Bodyguard, both British and superb. Then there's Fauda, a series about Israeli special forces which is amazing, not British but every bit as good.

I liked The Bodyguard. Haven't seen The Escape Artist or Fauda. Should check 'em out.

(Fauda looks mighty tense, though, for pre slumber evening viewing, which is when I usually watch TV...)

Yes, it is an outstanding show. Great characters and superb writing. A great whodunit each time.
Vienna Blood on PBS excellent. May be available elsewhere by now. Set in Vienna, Austria just before WWI. Filmed mostly on location. Costuming and indoor sets are outstanding. ( I wish people still dressed like that in the cooler months ). I think there were two or three seasons. Came out 3 + years ago.
Story line is about how a young Jewish doctor from a wealthy family working in the mental health and behavioral aberration fields gets drawn into an at-first awkward and adversarial partnership with a rough-around-the-edges but intelligent veteran Austrian police detective solving complex crimes. Great story lines.
Highly recommended.

My wife has become a fan of Poirot, Miss Marple, Morse, and Midsomer Murders. You may guess who introduced those shows to her. :)

I have just watched the first season of The Man in the High Castle. What a brilliantly moody show, although I can imagine that for many it made no sense at all. You need quite a bit of knowledge about the Nazi regime, its internal intrigue, and some of its key players to follow some of the plot.
