Bug out plans redux

I live in a large city. My immediate neighborhood is centered around our church and Catholic school. there are a few nearby neighborhoods very similar. Our neighbors are all known to us. We are comprised of retirees, cops, firemen, EMT's, professionals, blue collar, nurses, tradesmen...the whole gamut. One of the tightest large neighborhoods in the city. I could have moved to the hinterlands long ago but have chosen to stay for now. We have several hospitals and med centers not far away...again, with many of the medical employees living in our neighborhood. On top of that, we are connected by media. Anything that happens is posted. Anyone in need can post for necessities and someone/several will donate to the cause. In short, we are close knit, diverse in ability and resources and loyal to our neighbors. I am not going anywhere. If we are going to survive anything, we will do it as we do most things...as neighbors and friends. As fellow citizens. As fellow Americans. As has been said here...no one is getting out of town in a real emergency. I have a better chance of survival by pooling with my neighbors than by myself. Most people around here have at least a few weeks of food on hand, a few gallons of gas, weapons and ammo to trade if needed. We were untouched by the the last few civil unrest incidents...but ready. If I have to die on a proverbial hill, I don't think I can find one much better than the one I'm on. Of course, YMMV.

I don't have much of a bug out plan. I do however have a pretty serious bug off plan.
It cracks me up that the people in urban areas plan to flee to rural areas.
WE DON'T WANT YOU
What I find funny is that those in the urban areas plan on leaving for the "country" and live of catching fish and hunting?? What maybe see a squirrel? They have no clue
I do think that those that live on farms have a better chance until the hoards of city folk swarm in.

HAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love that! Of course you don't. :)

Picture 1,000,000 big city residents showing up in various small towns an hour or two away from where they live. Where would they stay? What would they eat? It would be overwhelming.

I make no bones about living in and enjoying Big D. I'm in the countryside in less than an hour depending on the direction I select. Once I get there............then what? :)

Same response as the other discussion. I'm going to the backyard.

There's one road in and the (Three) neighbors keep an eye on what's going on.

The guy at the end of the road is in 10th group and has an obvious rifle range in his backyard.

The other neighbor owns actual wolves.

Greyfox's thoughts are mine. If happens as my plan is use the 'DIP' method...'Die In Place'. Hopefully on a pile of brass. Any where you go when the Golden Hoard will burn you out...can't plan against a raging 🔥.

Absolutely they do...ever heard of molotov cocktail? Desperate people do separate things! Mix gasoline and styrofoam for homemade napalm. Ask me how i know...
You know what cover and concealment is right? I defy you to get close enough to my home to throw a Molotov cocktail without being seen.

When I was a young lad, back in 8th grade, I had a Sci-Fi/Mystery class. My teacher had met Harry Hart Frank Jr. (AKA Pat Frank) as a youngster and loved his books. Frank’s most famous work, Alas Babylon, was required reading for the class. I’ve read it quite a few times since as well. I think that book had a profound effect on my understanding of how things can go south very quickly after an apocalyptic event. My takeaways from it are: 1. Above all, rule of law is king and necessary for civilization. 2. Like minded will band together and survive. 3. The desperate will not.

That book put me in a survival mindset relatively early in life. I also really liked it because it’s fictional setting, Fort Repose, Fl is very close to where I grew up Seminole County. As teens we used to camp at the confluence of the St. Johns and Wekiva (Timacuan in the book) Rivers and talk about what we would do when the shtf.

After 25+ years down here in Southwest Florida, we are building a house on some acreage up in a rural part of the Florida Ridge and moving sometime in late summer to early spring.

I plan on being ready for come what may.

What exactly are you cutting with all the lawn mowers? All I see is dirt

SIL owns a landscaping business and the "backyard" is all the land on the right side of the road up to just past where it starts to rise. Do you not see that it's GREEN ?

Nope I dont
IDK man I guess you're color blind. And for whatever business it might be of yours that's like a 60 acre plot. Do you really think they're going to sod all that in?

It’s actually none of my business. I made a joke. Sorry you don’t have a sense of humor.

If that's your idea of a joke I guess neither one of us has a sense of humor
