A Short M&P 32 Long CTG (Update with Letter)

Not that it would ever happen, but Kalispell would be one of the first large cities to stop at if you were headed south from Western Canada.

Unless you come down the coast to Vancouver and into Washington or farther east at Minot . . .

I've done all of them at one time or another over the past 40+ years. :D

2", 4", and 5" K32 M&P's

Here is my picture of the three K32 M&P's that I owned for a long time, and then sold recently.

M&P revolvers were generally offered with two alternative calibers: .38 and 32-20. The earliest offering of a 2" barrel occurs in the 1935-1936 catalogs, which show barrel lengths of 2", 4", 5", and 6" lengths for the .38 round-butt M&P. In the 1940 flyer, the 2" length is available for the.38 square-butt M&P as well. There is no offering for the 32-20 caliber option.

The earliest 2" revolver I've owned is sn 614221, a .38 M&P, shipped Jan 1935.

Production for the 32-20 caliber had ceased a good 10 years earier. It's worth noting that 32-20 caiber option involved a different barrel bore, and a different cylinder chambering. Otherwise the 38's and 32-20's guns are identical.

Given all of this, it's unlikely that the factory ever offered a 2" M&P chambered in 32-20. By the time the 2" barrels were first offered, the 32-20 caliber option was no longer available.

...you confirmed my suspicions...

...thanks Mike...

I almost hate to tell this story. About 1970 when I was just starting to collect, I ran across a 2" for sale for $65. I passed because it had a tiny rust spot on the cylinder. After all, who wants a 32. He tried to tell me how rare it was but I was deaf. I think they are very very rare.

Yea, who would want an old snub nose 32, even for $65? Shoulda listened to the seller.
