586 ND four inch love…..

Stumbled onto a 586 4" today. I am probably going to get it next week. From the pictures it appears to be in excellent condition. It is a no dash but is marked MOD 586. So does this denote that was returned to SW for the modification ? I thought those were marked with a "M" above the 586. Did they mark it both ways? I plan to get it either way because it will look awesome with my Nickel 586! Thanks.

The MOD 586 means what it appears to mean: Model 586

If there is no M stamp it probably didn't get returned to the factory. I had a couple without the M, never bothered to send them in.

OK, that is what I was wondering. So MOD in this case is part of the model number and not an indication of return to SW. Yeah, my Nickel 586 has never been returned and I see no need to do so. Mostly shoot .38s in it anyway. Thanks for the clarification.
