Urolift prostate fix

Moo Moo - If your diagnosis is BPH, has your urologist suggested Dutasteride (Avodart) as a possible way to shrink the prostate? This has been working for me for the last 5 years (I'm 70).

You all mention "prostate". I think I know what it is but can't quite put my finger on it!!??

I'm reading this thread with interest. Would love a new Wonder Treatment. Had the PAE and think it is great....no pain....no blood...go home same day. But as many have said, since the prostate keeps growing, symptoms return.

EDIT: Just wanted to say that one reason many have never heard of PAE is because Urologists can not perform this procedure. It is done by an Interventional Radiologist. I used it but it may not be for everyone.

Yes, interventional urologist is who you want fora PAE.
I had a PAE last Oct, so far so good. It’s much less invasive than some of the other procedures….start small.
Dr Isaacson did mine.

I had this procedure twelve months ago. I only get up once or twice an evening now. Previously it was hourly. It reduced the mass of my Prostate 75%. But I still depend on Depends.

Aquablation is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), or an enlarged prostate. It utilizes a robotically guided camera and ultrasound imaging to precisely direct a high-pressure water jet to remove excess prostate tissue, providing effective relief from urinary symptoms. This procedure is notable for its ability to offer a multidimensional view of the prostate during treatment, which enhances precision. Additionally, aquablation is associated with shorter recovery times and preserves sexual function compared to traditional treatments. It is typically recommended when medication is ineffective.

I had my prostate removed in January. Cancer. It hurt like heck for about 1 1/2 weeks, had a catheter for 4 or 5 days. PSA came back 0%. I have no problems anymore. I go see the urologist in July so he can make a payment to the Fox Chapel Yacht Club. I'm 68, so I'm feeling lucky so far. I have street cred now: it looks like I got hit with 6 balls of buckshot. He did it with a robot.
Knee doctor tomorrow...

I had a full blown radical prostatectomy over twenty years ago. My younger brother had a procedure done last year where they basically kept his prostate where it is and removed the interior portion. Left him with all his nerves intact, so he is still capable of getting an erection. Sounds like a good deal to me after twenty life changing years. The jury is still out as to whether or not his PSA will stay at zero which would depend entirely on whether or not any of his cancer had managed to metastasize. They've been chasing a buddy of mine's cancer for years, others I know have long gone. I wish you all the success possible.
