This has been a habit since 80% of the auctions tend to end on Sunday evenings at 9pm Eastern.
My Area of interest is models 17, 18, 19, 25, 27, 29, 53, 57, 66, 629 pre 1982.
I have probably had constant bids going For the last eight months, expecting to lose all unless there’s something I’m really chasing,
but in the hopes that just may be, there will be a great deal to be had.

Having been bitten by this unrelenting bug about 15 months ago… I ask you guys.. Is this too, normal?

Couple of weeks ago, I had a bid on a 29–2 6.5”. No case box or papers, but it was In what appeared to be very nice condition. Good pictures, Nice finish.
I put in a bid of 1000 bucks.. Figuring I’d be outbid.
I had a gig that Sunday And the auction ended

I bid there occasionally, and have won a few, but it is my least favorite venue. The deep pockets folks seem willing to pay more for really nice pieces than I am and I refuse to get in bidding wars on items I haven't handled. I'm more inclined to watch for "sleepers" that aren't well described and may have been missed by the crowd, and auctions that don't end on Sunday evenings. I put a lot more on the watch list than the bid list. Good luck.

I generally put items on my watchlist or favorites then forget about them, check back and am glad I didn’t watch it or think maybe I should have been watching. Fun to watch prices of the firearms I want.

I'm not addicted to GB. I go there once a week to see what's up. I've won two auctions there and satisfied with both. The market is down right now for everything so trying to sell anything will be a lose.

There really aren't any great deals on GB, only fair deals for sellers. By the time you end up paying commissions, shipping and FFL transfer fees they aren't so fair to the buyer.

You would do much better haunting the local pawn shops and local dealers.

I just bid on GB a few days ago for what I would pay a local dealer for the item. Of course I didn't win it because people pay stupid prices for something they can't live without.

My son called a few hours ago. He was looking at a couple of 3 1/2" model 27. He also found a 5 inch S prefix 27-2 with box and papers. He bid on the 3 1/2 inch guns and I bid on the 5 inch. He got outbid and I won.

I saw those..
BR or Keystone?

Blackdeuce's son here... I counted 5 3.5" 27's set to expire tonight at 8pm cst. Prices on the 3.5 guns getting crazy.

The only two I bid on were the BR gun with the stag grips & the pre 27 that Vintage Iron had. The Keystone s prefix gun was nice but the box looked like it had been re-labelled.

The main thing GB has is that you are very likely to find what you may be looking for, versus stalking your LGS. That’s said, I’m not seeing the “best deals” very often.

I’m not seeing prices online or prices that are much different from what I see on gun broker Where things haven’t got completely out of hand.
I see some outliers that go for astronomical prices, but generally things are where they would be at a show or store I’m thinking… or what people have said they would go for on here. True value etc. There seems to be about a 20% fluctuation.

Also, photographs make a huge difference as well as the seller’s reputation.

I have gotten some truly remarkable deals on GB in the past. Some decent deals in the last couple years. But these days since I retired I just do not feel the need to accumulate any more unless I see one that fits my niche, which is 19-2's in all finishes and barrel lengths. I really need to start thinning the herd some, but I can wait until things pick back up when people get more discretionary funds.

I have gone that way of thinking too. I recently bid a gun that ended at 10 am on Wednesday. At 9:45 am I was the only bidder and winning. I fell back to sleep and when I woke up 7 people out bid me LOL. It was a old Smith revolver.

I got to sound checking and forgot about the auction only to lose to the high bid of $1025.
Someone got a great deal. It was a nice one.

Combining your opening post on the two threads, because I had to know the rest of the story... :D

I too watch a lot of auctions close on Sunday night. I sometimes bid. I rarely win, but I have fun with the auctions regardless. And it allows me to keep a pulse on the GB part of the market for the guns I like (357s, K-22s and engraved S&Ws).

You need to watch BR closely. Those long winded write ups about how thrilled they are to be able to sell you this spectacular firearm. I have caught them a couple times, and asked them questions that they would not answer.

They banned me from bidding on their stuff. because I ask pointed questions. They had K frame grips on an N frame once. They did not qualify the grips. Bad business practice

Since Missouri got added to the list of states that GB collects sales tax for I hardly ever bid. I now have a 10% disadvantage bidding against people in states with no sales tax.

I just bought a revolver on GB and they collected 9.125% tax. It was still a good deal, but sucks to pay that much when you don't on other sites.

We moved from Nebraska and I'm not liking all of the taxes. I especially like the 1% income tax for KC, MO. My wife's employer doesn't collect it, so we went 4 years without realizing it. Then, almost 4 years after we move here, KC, MO sends a big bill with a crazy amount of money for interest and penalties.

GB good for me to check pricing realty w/ completed auctions

I don't bid or buy on GB but I do watch it (yea..usually Sunday evenings too) especially when I have guns for sale here on the Forum.

The search completed auctions function lets me see some recent sales of the Models I've got up for sale and I can see condition, accessories, and best of all...ADD anywhere from 17 to 25% and I can see a recent "market value" with all those fees added on.

So if I take GB's sold price and offer shipping and insurance I hope I'm in the ballpark to get some movement on my guns for sale.

Above is not working lately, maybe nobody has disposable income like months past, or I'm still too high, but I'll drop prices and see.

That's the beauty of selling here on the Forum....you bunch of folks can best discern perceived value for your buck. If I have it priced right...I get a "I'll take it". If I'm way high I get zip, zero, nada. If I'm somewhere in the middle I get a few PM's and that's the way "negotiation" is supposed to work.:D

Lemme get on over to the For Sale and lower another one as a potential buyer just backed out.

They say ignorance of the law is no excuse but in this case, they should at least wave the interest and penalties. With **** like this it's a wonder why anyone would move here.

Taxes aside, we like it here. We're in the NW corner about 5 miles West of Liberty. Lots of trees, etc. Best part is that we're less than a mile from my son and grandkids. They grow like weeds and if I was still in Nebraska, I wouldn't get to see them often.
