Hey all,

I have a Model 10-8 that has a very nice action, but I’ve always despised the grooved trigger. I was able to find a K-Frame smooth trigger with an attached hand and install it, which I’ve done a time or two.

Now the issue is, the action works flawlessly until the cylinder is re-installed and then the trigger won’t budge and the hammer can’t be cocked. It feels like it’s binding on something. I would imagine this is the new trigger hand’s relationship to the cylinder?

Has anyone had an issue like this and found a remedy? If I can, I may just take the hand from the old trigger and install it on the new smooth one.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I would recommend two things:

- Move the original hand to the new trigger
- Verify that the new trigger is moving the cylinder stop at the proper time

It's possible that the new hand/trigger combination is trying to move the cylinder before the cylinder stop drops out of the way. Start by verifying that the new trigger is in fact moving the cylinder stop and then swap the hands. If that doesn't work, post a bunch of high resolution pictures with the sideplate off and let's talk.....

Well I seem to have made it worse. Now I can’t get the hand into the new trigger! They do appear slightly different though, so I’m betting that its interaction with the cylinder is the issue.

This one might be a job for a pro gunsmith, which alas I am not.
