A Trip To The Local Pot Shop

It would be fun to go in and look around but I have no interest in using any of it. Any. Did my fair share back in the 70's.

For pain you can get diclofenac over the counter.

I'm not sure exactly how to say this and I'm pretty sure it's going to start a fight so my apologies.

When Colorado put legalizing weed on the ballot I voted in favor. I did so because I thought that people should make their own decisions. The measure passed by less than 20 votes.

And IMO it absolutely destroyed Colorado.

Our homeless population skyrocketed. People came from all over the country for "Free weed". I'm not sure where that idea got started but I'm telling you a bunch of the people that I ran into at work thought that they were going to be able to have free weed in Colorado.

Our crime rate went up because the cartels moved in here and they started growing weed legally and illegally for shipment to the rest of the country.

The government looked at weed as a cash cow. Every time they wanted to pass a measure they raised the tax on weed to fund it.

What's that actually did was create a situation where the elicit dealers could raise the price on their product significantly and still undercut the legal weed stores. And once weed is in a jar at your house the cops can't prove you didn't buy it from Maggie's Farm.

Weed is an all cash business because the banks won't touch it. Weed dealers get robbed. Weed Dealers get busted for income tax evasion. Quite a few of the "dispensaries" in Colorado Springs have gone bankrupt and gone out of business.

And people still think legalized weed is the best thing that ever happened to Colorado
It takes a big man to admit a mistake. Like you, my initial thought was legalize it, let freedom have at it and let people decide for themselves. I still feel that way, but my fellow Americans are making poor choices with all that Freedom and were starting to look like the Middle east when it comes to civil engagement.

We want to do what we want, without thinking of the long term implications. WI has not legalized it, and frankly, I'm surprised we have not yet, We have a very liberal Governor but the Republicans still control the legislature. Having Michigan next door, where it is legal, allows alot of WI plates to cross over to get it, which I'm sure is happening.

They legalized medical MJ here in FL a few years back. Immediately MJ shops opened up on every corner faster than Walgreens and CVS. A head cold and $125 would get you a MJ medical permit at any one of them. Since then, sitting at almost any traffic light smells like a skunk's outhouse. Fortunately a recent "constitutional" amendment to legalize all MJ was shot down, but the pro smokers will simply continue to push for legalization until they get it one way or another.

I had a similar experience, staff were helpful, but everything smelled like a pine forest and the product names sounded like energy drinks. Still figuring out what actually works for sleep.

Many gunowners do not realize that if you use marijuana you could lose your second amendment rights. Your firearms could be confiscated. This applies to States that it is legal to use as well. If you have a marijuana card you can not legally buy, or own a firearm. Be very careful with this. Let your friends, and family know the restrictions that are involved.

My niece and her hubby moved out of Colorado. I think that it had as much to do with the oppressive gun laws as legalized marijuana. From what I've been reading we are just starting to learn about the problems with marijuana. Pot heads always make the loudest noise in promoting it. Per your post, I wonder if the cartels also have influence?

I quit smoking weed on December 14th 1982. One week before I turned 17.

I've already said I'm absolutely convinced that marijuana destroyed Colorado. I also think that was a plan.

I'm pretty sure that weed will be the downfall of America.

The thing that annoys me the most about weed is folks move into this apartment building (and I'm sure every other apartment building in Colorado Springs) and they sign a lease agreement that they won't smoke weed on the premises. And then they proceed to smoke weed on the premises. And it doesn't so much bother me that they're smoking weed as it bothers me that I have to smell it.

It also bothers me that the management here (on paper) takes a hard line stance against marijuana. According to the lease agreement smoking marijuana on this property is grounds for immediate eviction.

I have seen management standing outside of an apartment with smoke rolling under the door and have had them look me in the eye and tell me that they can't prove it's marijuana and they can't prove it's coming from the apartments that they're watching it come out of so they can't do anything about it.

I've also trained people at work who the very first question they ask me is "How often do they test for weed"? or "How do I get around the weed test:?

You knew when you accepted this job that you weren't supposed to smoke weed. At least have the Integrity not to take the job knowing that you're not going to fulfill the job requirements that you agreed to.

I live in Indiana, a state where all forms of marijuana are illegal. Chicago is 30 miles from me and for the last 5-8 years Illinoisans have have literally moved here in droves. Lake Co. where I live is the only democratic co. in the state. So my new Illinois neighbors do whatever the hell they want and thumb their noses at the police depts in this county because the courts here have a "catch and release" attitude about "petty " stuff like marijuana. I guarantee marijuana is a gateway drug as proven to me by some former friends who ruined their lives by entering the "gateway".
